Amazing New Car Volvo XC60

This sporty in-line 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbocharged engine meets high expectations for performance, and fuel efficiency. Twin-scroll 300 hp (325 hp R-Design) turbo delivers immediate response at all revs – max torque of 325 lb. ft (354 lb. ft. R-Design) is available already from low revs. Fuel saving technology such as brake energy regeneration and reduced internal friction contribute to lower CO2 emissions and more power. This engine's compact design aids safety performance in a frontal collision. The latest generation of fast response emission control technology ensures that the engine complies with stringent environmental standards ULEV 2.

Front wheel drive, standard on all Volvos except the All Wheel Drive models, provides many advantages over rear wheel drive, such as low-speed traction on slippery surfaces. Getting started on a snowy road is a significant benefit of front wheel drive over rear wheel drive. Front wheel drive also offers much more efficient utilization of space. Thus, a greater percentage of the interior space is available for people and possessions. Volvo's advanced front wheel drive system with special equal-length driveshaft geometry is designed to help provide balanced traction even under hard acceleration.

Six-speed Geartronic Transmission offers the best of both worlds. Leave it in six-speed automatic mode for carefree driving, or nudge it into manual mode to shift gears yourself. This allows you to maintain a lower gear, for example, to provide added engine braking as you approach a bend or curve. The automatic transmission is also perfect if you need to get the car to crawl slowly with a heavy load under difficult conditions

By helping prevent fishtails, spinouts, and rollovers, stability control technology like DSTC has been described as one of the most vital safety advances of the past decade. At the core of DSTC, sensors register the car's direction and roll rate. The system compares this with steering wheel movements as well as the actual rotation of the car's wheels. DSTC is able to detect a potential skid and help counteract this by reducing the engine's power output, or braking on one or more wheels. Further developed in the XC60 utilising a roll rate sensor, this technology also adds to stability in dynamic driving where the vehicle is exposed to high lateral forces.

In the event of an emergency manoeuvre, Volvo's Roll Stability Control (RSC) can step in to help prevent the vehicle from rolling over. It features a gyroscopic sensor that registers the vehicle's lean angle and rollover risk. If required, RSC will cut engine power or brake one or more of the wheels just enough to reduce the centrifugal force and help regain balance.
